An Endocrinologist by profession, Dr. Sanjay Kalra is the proprietor of Bharti Research Institute of Diabetes & Endocrinology (BRIDE), Karnal, Haryana. His extensive professional journey of 14 years covers several stellar achievements in his field of speciality.
Dr. Kalra is a MBBS graduate from Punjab University (Chandigarh) with additional MD (Medicine) and DM (Endocrinology) qualifications from MDU (Rohtak) and AIIMS (New Delhi) respectively. Further, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Rural Development (PGDRD) from IGNOU provided Dr. Kalra the essential skills related to planning, formulation, monitoring and evaluation of rural development projects and programmes together with an understanding of basic aspects of research and project work.
Backed by a sound scientific foundation, Dr. Kalra is instrumental in providing editorial skills to several national and international medical journals focused on Endocrinology, Diabetes, Geriatrics, Family Practice, Medical Research, Pharmacology, Hypertension and Nutrition. He is an Executive Editor of the Indian Journal of Endocrinology & Metabolism and Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Clinical Cases & Investigations. He enjoys various prominent positions in medical societies, one of them being the rank of the Vice President of South Asian Federation of Endocrine Societies, since 2013.
He is an international lecturer and author of numerous published peer-reviewed research papers and an active peer reviewer. He has delivered a cornucopia of lectures on various aspects of Endocrinology, all across Europe, America, Africa and Asia. With over 200 papers published till date, Dr. Kalra is associated with significant contribution in publications. He has a plethora of experience as a clinical researcher/investigator in the areas of Diabetes, Hypertension, Osteoporosis, Dyslipidemia, Obesity, Contraception and Male Infertility. His outstanding research background has earned him several national clinical awards, including the Investigator of the Year, 2008, from the Indian Society of Clinical Research; the DAWN Award, 2009; and the Prof. B.N. Shrivastava & late (Mrs.) Sarandulari Shrivastava Award, 2012, from RSSDI.
Dr. Kalra urges us to change our perception towards Diabetes and take on stringent measures to fight the disease. According to him, Diabetes should not be considered a debilitating illness but a health issue which calls for a disciplined way of life.
